The Bach Doctor Press is a unique publishing house prepared to take your written word to the world!
Darin Dance has started his own publishing and photography business: The Bach Doctor Press after researching and taking photographs for five book projects while working collaboratively with fellow Ngai Tahu writers. He is a born and bred New Zealander of Maori (Ngai Tahu – Te Ngai Tuahuriri, Taumutu Runanga, Te Runanga o Makaawhio and Te Runanga o Waihao) and Celtic (Scottish and Irish) descent and has been an Operations, Production and Events Manager for the last twenty years in New Zealand.
He firmly believes that with the retrenchment of the main publishing houses back to Australia, America and Europe, our unique “Kiwi” voices and stories will be lost and unheard unless new publishing ventures are prepared to fill this void. This has become his mission to promote our korero and pakiwaitara (stories and legends).
Darin has always loved reading, he is a staunch book club member, attending many reading and writing festivals all the while hunting down “out of print” books in charity shops to add to his own extensive library.
His other interests include playing golf rather badly after finally giving away his touch rugby days, researching his whakapapa (ancestry), gardening and preserving, gathering kai moana (seafood), tramping and completing half marathons, as well as exploring the wonderful beaches of our beautiful country in search of surfing that elusive ‘perfect’ wave.
